Donna Lee Solt Westberg, age 88. Loving mother, sister, grand and great grandmother, friend courageously and peacefully passed May 25, 2022. Born January 20, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Dean Mason and Evelean Brown Solt. Raised in Swede Town, UT and attended the Utah School for the Deaf, Ogden, UT. Donna married Jerry W. Westberg March 6, 1953, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Salt Lake Valley 2nd Ward for the Deaf.
Her many interests include Master seamstress, puzzles, playing board games, gardening, traveling, camping, bowling. She always acknowledged our birthdays, loved celebrating Christmas with family and always prepared a Christmas brunch for everyone who came to visit. She loved being with and taking care of her large family and was always proud of them. Charitable and a hard worker at everything she did.
Donna Lee is survived by 6 children: Patti (Nick) Gilbert, Sherry (Reed) Haslam, Becky (Wayde) Edwards, Cindy (Gary) Hatch, Vickie (Ray) Dickey, Les (Laura) Westberg; 23 grandchildren; 62 great grandchildren; 4 siblings. Preceded in death by husband Jerry; parents and 9 siblings.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 9, 2022, 12:00 PM at the Salt Lake Valley 2nd Ward for the Deaf, 6250 South 2200 West, Taylorsville, UT 84129. Viewings will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2022, 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 South 2200 West, Riverton, UT 84065 and Thursday, June 9, 2022, 11:00 to 11:45 AM at the Deaf Ward. Interment, Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South Millcreek, UT.
A special thanks to Dr. Jenny Kielkowski, 1st granddaughter for welcoming Mom into her house for her final days. We have peace knowing she is reunited with Dad after 31 years. The family will truly miss being a part of the deaf community.
