How to use the Clear
Plastic Panel![]() |
|
| - Experiment with the placement of the reflective panel: try watching the
whole screen through the panel with the panel about 6-8 inches from your
face (this seems to be the recommended way to view a RWC movie), but you may
prefer having only the captions on the screen and watching everything else
without the screen. The screen will make things look a little darker - like
wearing sun glasses.
- The arm will hold the panel in position better if it is mostly upright and straight. When bent a lot, it tends to sag a bit. - RWC will work from just about every seat in the theatre, with the exception of the very back rows. However, the best angle for viewing seems to be toward the center. - Just before the movie begins there will be a message on the rear "screen" that will reflect in your panel: "Welcome to rear window captions, please adjust your reflector." That will let you get the reflector panel in position so you won't miss the very beginning of the movie. - They have 20 reflector panels now, but will buy more if they are needed. If you have a group of more than 15 planning to attend a movie together, please let the theatre know at least 1 week in advance so they can order some extra panels before you go. - If groups want to schedule special performances of a movie they have had (they have had DVS movies for the blind/low vision group for over a year at the Gateway - those movies have the captions), please contact Jennifer Klenk (jklenk@jordancommons.com) to make arrangements. - If you have any problems at all, please report them to the box office while you're there, or to Jennifer (email in item above) when you get home. They are committed to offering us quality movie experiences. How does Rear Window Captioning Work?
